This course is now over. This was the first time such a course was offered at SUNY Oswego, and it was a complete success! There is so much high-quality work created by students. Feel free to look around, or follow this guided tour: The first assignment asked students to describe their lives as if it were a videogame. Check out the assignments by Rocco (Tetris) and Spencer (Left 4 Dead). As an example of the rich collaborative note pages students generated for each reading, see this. Students conducted a number of lab experiments that involved videogames. See the reports by Brandon-Dan-Jeremy B, Sam-Jeremy S-Winthrop, and Brie-Rob-Ian. The Alternate Reality Game this class was involved in designing can be best explained by visiting the Save Oswego There were also some excellent final papers, which combined critical gamer theory with work from journals students maintained throughout the semester. See the examples by Winthrop, Rob, Brandon, James B, and Garry. There are many other examples of good work, but listing all of it would defeat the purpose of this tour.
